The long story short is that Enterprise travelled kind of 'free-form' for season 1, and then returned to Earth in Shockwave. This map is a great suggestion for people who want to discover the Star Trek universe.

To be honest, the writers keep it a little ambiguous so that they can adjust stories. The distances in Enterprise are kind of wonky. The Voyager map isn't canon, either-though it's got more of a canon basis because they talk about where the ship is (we're still X lightyears from Earth).
